LTB Transfers Services in 9 Locations

Our friends at the Clinic Resource Office have alerted us to a letter recently issued by the Landlord and Tenant Board, advising that in nine locations it is transferring LTB services to Service Ontario. As explained by the CRO:

"In a letter to "stakeholders" dated 17 September 2008 [CRO No. HOU-O-00195], the
Chair of Landlord and Tenant Board has advised that nine locations in Ontario will
be transferring Board services to Service Ontario staff who will dispense forms and
brochures and accept documents on behalf of the LTB; but who cannot give legal
information. These centres are supposed to have phone and internet access to the
Board. These nine centres are located in Thunder Bay, Owen Sound, Barrie, St.
Catharines, Kitchener, Windsor, Whitby, Peterborough and Kingston. Documents
may also be filed by mail or fax to the appropriate one of eight Regional Board Offices
that are listed on the attachment to the letter."

Advocates practising in these regions should take note of the change and the reduced LTB services available in their locale.
