The Landlord and Tenant Board has added a "Steps to Apply" section to its website, as a guide to both tenants and landlords who may wish ti file an application with the LTB. As explained on the LTB website (http://www.ltb.gov.on.ca/en/About_Us/173271.html):

"New "Steps to Apply" section

On October 2, 2007, the Board added a new Steps to Apply section to its website. This section provides basic information about the different steps in the process of filing an application with the Board. There are 4 steps in this section:

[*]Step 1: Choosing an Application – this section provides information to help you decide whether you want to file an application to the Board.

[*]Step 2: Filing an Application – this section explains what happens when you file an application with the Board.

[*]Step 3: The Hearing – this section provides information about the Board’s hearing process.

[*]Step 4: The Order – this section provides information about the different types of orders (decisions) that the Board can make."

Advocates who work with housing issues will want to keep this step-by-step resource in mind if less formal measures do not resolve a landlord-tenant problem.
