Mandatory retirement at age 65 ends in Ontario on December 12, 2006. As of that date, amendments to the Ontario Human Rights Code that protect people aged 65 and over from age discrimination for most employment purposes take effect. A variety of other statutes that have provisions related to mandatory requirement have also been amended.
